Multitasking

Turns out most people aren't that good at multitasking. I took this picture while I was in Africa as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. These ladies knew how to multitask. I had to have them stop walking and talking for a brief moment so I could capture the shot.

High School Musical 4

High School Musical 3 has been playing at my house quite a bit recently. The following video is a great spoof:

My "Good Friday" Experience

I talked a little while back on what I call 'The Aladdin Syndrome'. Somebody felt, I assumed, that they had to eat and that my truck represented a little bread. Turns out it was a little less of the Aladdin Syndrome and a little more of the 'Robin Hood Paradox'. The RHP is the concept that stealing from somebody that apparently had more than you do in an effort to equal things out actually lowers the thief's state further despite the increase in wealth, goods, etc. My truck was recovered on Easter morning.

The suspects were seen with their (my) high beams on at 1:45am as they drove past an officer in the neighboring city of Ontario, CA. When the officer turned around to inspect he saw that there was a suspicious dealer plaque and 'Hello Kitty' license plate holder. He turned on his lights to pull the vehicle over. A high speed chase ensued ending in this:

The sad part about seeing my truck was seeing all of their beer, cologne, CD's of filth and other items of 'the World' mixed in with remnants of my families memories. Although they were 'rollin with the homies' with the seats thrown back and open beer in the cup holders they didn't take the time to clean up the Alpha-bits my kids had thrown the weekend before.

I feel for those that think it is acceptable and even justifiable to take that which is not theirs. Now I just hope the insurance company is nice regarding the valuation of the vehicle.

Who will watch the watchers?

On our way down to San Diego yesterday we spotted this:

Don't worry, the passenger took the photo.

There are a lot of questions raised by this type of an incident. Although I am hopeful that there was a good reason that the officer in the photo was on his cell phone while driving, which for those of you that don't know is against California law, it reminds me of the Latin saying:
"Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?"

What do rough and tough construction workers want after a long day at work?

How about an ice cold... Frozen Yogurt?

I can just hear them now:

Rough and tough Man #1 - "Man, I'm getting tired from all this jack hammering."
Rough and tough Man #2 - "I feel ya, I could really use a nice cold one."
Rough and tough Man #1 - "Me too, an original sweet tart with strawberries and gummy bears would sure hit the spot."

I love that thanks to my iphone I always have a camera on me to capture memorable moments such as this.

Chocolate Weapons

Since I'm promoting chocolate today, I thought I'd give another plug. One of my good childhood friends has come up with one of the most creative products that I have seen in a long time. Not only is it creative... it's delicious.

Check out his site and buy some chocolate weapons. http://www.chocolateweapons.com/

I have a tin of the chocolate bullets and I can attest that they are quite delicious. As mentioned on one of the videos on the site, “it’s not that cheap, crappy chocolate” it's the good stuff.

Chocolate

Craig and Sara like to dip things in chocolate. If you would like to dip things in chocolate, perhaps at a party, wedding, mitzfah (either bar or bat), shower, corporate event, etc then check out http://www.bluminup.com/

Disappointed

I just read this article on Michael Phelps. I am truly disappointed. We need great role models today and they are getting harder to find.

In a public apology Phelps said:
I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public it will not happen again
I wonder how his endorsements will weather this little storm.

Today's Job Market

With unemployment up and the job market weak I knew that I would get a lot of responses to a recent post on Craigslist. We are looking for somebody that is tech savvy, detail oriented and sees things through to the end. Since every applicant lists at least one of those as their strengths I wrote the add to self filter. Here's what I wrote:

"We are currently looking for another Assistant. The qualified assistant must be very task oriented, a planner, able to work in chaos and be skilled in the MS Suite and general computing. Applicants with experience in Finance, Real Estate, Mortgage Origination and/or telemarketing are desired.

To be considered please follow these guidelines closely (If your email does not meet these guidelines your application will not be considered complete):

1. Submit a resume in PDF format via email

2. In the email you send state why you feel you are perfect for the job

3. Include your cell phone number and times you can be reached

6. Point out what is wrong with this list, and include a photo of yourself

4. Include the date you can begin working (we need somebody immediately)

5. Please state in the email your favorite ice cream flavor

Following these application guidelines will help us weed out applicants. We will schedule interviews promptly."

In 24 hours I have had 20 resumes sent over and only 5 of them have hit each of the 6 points. For the record, I don't care if the applicant actually sends a photo or tells me their favorite ice cream flavor as long as they acknowledge that they read that part of the instructions.

Last time I posted a similar listing only 15% of the applicants got everything right. I guess things are looking up.

Unprofessional Photographer

It seems that many people I know are taking up photography as a business. I have no interest in doing so, but I do love to take pictures. We were visiting Wrightwood a while back with the Blumes and I shot this picture. I call it The Craiger.

Goodbye to my Treo

Dear John... I mean Treo,

I know we've both felt this for sometime. The disconnect between us has been growing for a couple of years now. We've both tried to work on our relationship. When our relationship first struggled with the 600 we went to counseling and I upgraded to the 650, again a while later when I upgraded to the 680. I know that give and take is needed in any relationship, so I have been patiently giving knowing that time is needed for personal growth and product development. Most recently it has seemed like there just wasn't enough battery life in our time together. You wouldn't call when you said you would and I just couldn't count on you to get turned on no matter how hard I tried to push your buttons. I know many couples face this and work through it, so I feel I must tell you that there is another device in my life now. One that listens to me, whose buttons are far more simpler to push and responds so much more intuitively to my every touch. I know that it's hard to put blame on anybody here, and just know that it's not you... it's me. I wanted more in a relationship...
